The SJR-29 and HJR-56 bills under consideration in the Missouri General Assembly puts a tax on the education of K-12 private and parochial schools but does not put a tax on college or public education. Why should people who choose to send their children to parochial or private schools have to pay additional taxes. Parents should be able to choose to send their kids to what ever school they choose. Sounds like a progressive move to me. All education should be tax free…
The language in this year’s bill simply taxes final sales to consumers, which as a definition included private school tuition. It was not singled out as something to tax. I believe there has been language added to exempt school tuition from the tax base.
